Summary: Florida created a presentation that provides information pertaining to how students with IEPs will continue to be served under distance learning. School-Based Counseling, Health and Related Services in a Remote Learning Environment

Summary: Florida created a presentation discussing how schools plan to provide counseling, health and other related services through the remote learning format. Summary: This web page, funded via Florida’s Workforce Education Initiative, provides mental health resources and information specifically for youth with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. These resources predominantly focus on methods and practices to help youth with disabilities practice self-mental-health-care. It also includes resources and videos for families of youth with disabilities to help them understand the unique mental health difficulties of those with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

State of Florida Department of Education Emergency Order

Summary: This Emergency Order specifies requirements for holding new IEP meetings for Florida students with disabilities prior to the spring, 2021 semester, in order to continue to provide a “free and appropriate education” to students with disabilities. Specifically, the order emphasizes the need to communicate in the least restrictive manner with students on an IEP and adjust IEPs according to student needs.
