Summary: Indiana created a document that contains a list of remote learning accommodations that can be employed for a variety of situations and disabilities. They included resources and policies describing how students with disabilities should receive information, demonstrate retention, be given an unrestrictive environment, and adjust their schedule to an unrestrictive timetable.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) Guidance for Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services Stakeholders

Indiana’s Considerations for Learning and Safe Schools In-Class Health and Safety Re-entry Guidance

Contingency Planning Considerations for Students with Disabilities in the Current COVID-19 Environment

Summary: This document discusses potential contingency plans and adjustments necessary for certain students with disabilities’ IEPs, as well as appropriate procedures for determining and making these adjustments. It also highlights requirements of Indiana schools to provide assistive technology for students participating in distance learning, as well as the procedure to determine what this assistive technology may be. Throughout this document, the IDE emphasizes the importance of including family members in decisions regarding students with disabilities’ education, and it highlights the processes by which families should decide whether their child should continue to participate in distance learning.
